Good morning!
How's it going?
I've already gotten up, washed the dishes, made breakfast, had my meal, had coffee, did my nails, and outlined my plans for the day... It feels like I've accomplished quite a bit, but as for what comes next - I'm not quite sure yet.
The moment that always gets me is the one where I think, "Have I done important things? No, better! I've made a list of important things!"
I don't know about you, but this happens to me quite often. Even more frequently, I catch myself thinking that overplanning is a kind of procrastination. You convince yourself that you're doing something important, prepare a plan, make a bunch of lists and charts, and all the while, you're just postponing the actual task you need to start.
"Come on, is it really so hard to just start doing something?"
"Well, yes, it's surprisingly tough. Starting is the hardest part. And if you just manage to start - that's already a huge progress."
If we stop complaining and think about a solution, I would suggest to myself (and not only to myself), to adopt the 10-minute rule. Do you have a task? Spend 10 minutes a day on it. At a minimum. And you have two options. Either you're great and you've dedicated a whole 10 minutes to the task, which is better than nothing, or you've gotten into it, got motivated, entered a state of flow, and decided to spend even more time on it after the initial 10 minutes. That would be awesome.
I'm still in the process of embracing this rule, but I wanted to share it with you. "Don't procrastinate, just do it, and don't burn out" - it's one of the superpowers I want to acquire the most.
