Make your shots stick out with a contrast of warm and cool colors. If your skin tone is darker, youโll want to use warmer lights on your skin. A cool light behind you will help you stand out and create separation between you and the background.
Make sure you use a key light (the brightest one) on your main subject (you and/or your partner) and position it up and to the right or left of the camera, creating a shadow. If you can direct your light using a grid, this will prevent the pops of color in the background from getting washed out by your key light.
If you donโt have lights of your own, a window, table lamp, group of candles, or even the glare from your TV can do just fine.
