POV angles can do wonders for your content when filmed correctly. Camera movement will capture your viewers attention faster than shots setup with a tripod because it adds personal perspective to your scene. All of a sudden, you become the eyes of the person receiving pleasure and wherever the camera looks will be your point of focus.
Tips for Achieving Great POV shots:
- Use a wide angle lens (but not too wide). 14-24mm is the best range, especially when youโre filming content between one and two feet away.
- Choose a lens that has a wide aperture. F/1.4 - F/2.8 lenses are ideal for lowlight scenarios, although you can get away with a lens that has an aperture as high as F/4.
- Keep the subject in the center of the frame. At these focal lengths the edges of the shot can bubble and look distorted (this is also why some asses look super round when they hit the edge of the screen *think about it*)
- Maintain focus! Sometimes when using autofocus the camera can jump around trying to figure out what the subject is. Itโs your job to tell the camera what to focus on!
- Change perspective! Angle a little of the the left or right, top or bottom to add some diversity to your shot. Different perspectives spice up the shot and keep the attention of the viewer for longer.
