Big costume reveal! π±
Also, here's a list of every single thing I did to make the korok costume
mask:
-collected reference images
-found high quality cardboard
-traced the design
-painted it
-gessoed it
-hot glued extra cardboard to the back
-cut it out
-painted the sides
-eyes and mouth: found black construction paper, cut shapes, and taped them on
-nose: hot cut out a cardboard cone, hot glued it, and painted it
head:
-bought a serger, set it up, learned how to use it
-went to the fabric store
-drew a test pattern, cut, and sew job (result: terrible)
-bought bleach, made bleach solution, re-made bleach solution
-test bleach on some other fabric (did not work)
-real bleach on final fabric
-steamed the fabric, it was horribly wrinkly
-test pattern, cut, and sew job (result: pretty bad but better)
-actual pattern, cut, and sew job (result: acceptable)
-found a pillow to cut to steal the stuffing from
-went to the second hand store to find a baseball cap, cut the bill, tested using this as inside support to keep the thing in place. Did not work, tossed the hat
destroyed a hanger to use that as structural support instead, it kind of works
-went to the fabric store again
-took a jacket to trace some janky designs, cut, and sew job
-cut the sleeves. they were wrong. cut them again. adjusted them.
-cut the front and finished it
-attached the sleeves (incorrectly 3x, but I got it in the end)
-cut, finished, and connected 4 ribbons to the back
other:
-collected acorns (multiple walks, but very fun)
-bought wooden chimes
DONE
