A little high-femme moment wearing an all-pink repro getup of lingerie of yesteryear.

I went down the rabbit hole to read about when wearing bright colors and skirts and intricate patterns fell out of fashion for men and interestingly the French Revolution is credited with that, followed by the Industrial Revolution.

Previously (and obviously), wearing intricate patterns, colors, and layers of fine clothing was a status symbol. A small portion of the horsepower behind the French overthrowing their king was a societal tiredness with opulence and overabundance by the commoners, paving a path for discourse on societal expectations.

Around the same time (late 18th century), the Industrial Revolution created a need for simpler, more practical clothing for one to work safely, while also creating the ability to mass-produce simple clothing.

The slides right into the 19th-century Victorian morals where you see dark, muted colors in men's fashion that, for the most part, have still stuck around for formal wear.
