Message: Despite the past majesty and status of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the official enslavement of the independent and proud peoples of the Baltic states began with the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact on August 23, 1939, which divided the spheres of influence and interests of Hitler's Germany and the USSR in Europe at the time. In fact, the Baltic countries became hostages in the political games of two dictators - Hitler and Stalin, and led to the fact that in 1940 Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia were forcibly annexed to the Soviet Union. The Communist Party set itself the goal of destroying the historical identity of the Baltic peoples and increasing the influence of the totalitarian communist regime in the occupied territories. Such a policy of the USSR was carried out in other union territories as well, but the Baltic countries always had pro-European views, which quite annoyed the communist leadership. Exactly 50 years later, on August 23, 1989, during an action of nonviolent resistance, Baltic people from three countries united in an almost 600-kilometer "living chain" connecting the capitals of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn in order to draw the world's attention to the illegal occupation the Baltic countries. After the fall of the regime, on September 6, 1991, the Soviet authorities officially recognized the independence of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The Baltic countries' bitter experience of being enslaved by Russia, as the rightful successor of the Soviet Union, became the reason for Ukraine's total support in confronting the aggressor. Рівно через 50 років, 23 серпня 1989 року, балтійці з трьох країн під час акції ненасильницького опору об’єдналися у майже 600-кілометровий «живий ланцюг», який об’єднував столиці Вільнюс, Ригу і Таллінн з метою привернути увагу світу до незаконної окупації країн Балтії. Після падіння режиму, 6 вересня 1991 року, радянська влада офіційно визнала незалежність Латвії, Литви та Естонії. Наявність у країн Балтії гіркого досвіду поневолення Росією, як правонаступницею Радянського Союзу, стала причиною тотальної підтримки України у протистоянні із агресором.
